Wood Frame Materials
Wood windows are the classic choice.
For many years they were pretty much the only choice.
Cities full of homes were outfitted with wooden windows. While many new technologies have arisen to take its place, wood holds its own in terms of thermal efficiency, beauty, and durability. We are happy that we have partnered with one of the best wood window manufacturers, Lincoln Windows, who uses top-quality wood joined with mortise and tenon joinery to create beautiful, efficient windows.
Benefits of Wood Windows
Bare wood is beautiful and one of the most desired home-building material available. It is also very efficient, keeping cold winter air out and the warmth of the hearth inside. In the summer, it keeps your conditioned air inside and the arid heat out. In fact, wood is one of the best insulators available. You can paint our wooden windows any color you like, offering a near-infinite set of possible choices for interior and exterior aesthetic.
Wooden windows, while beautiful and luxurious, do require regular maintenance. The exterior of the window will need regular check-ups to make sure that the elements have not harmed them. You’ll need to frequently re-paint or refinish them to ward against rot and decay. On the interior, keep an eye on the edges and corners, which can be dinged when furniture is moved or when the kids are playing.
Many builders shy away from installing wooden windows, but we are proud to offer them. Most come with reasonable warranties, and some include limited lifetime guarantees. When wood is well-tended, it will last you and your family for years. You can always be pleased with your windows, but they do require a bit of tender loving care.
You can still choose a wide variety of window styles in wooden frames. Horizontal slider windows, bay windows, double, and single-hung windows are all available in wood. Awning and casement windows are also available. Even specialty windows such as octagonal, circular, and other non-operational windows are available in wood frames.
